Mitaboni MCA Fredrick Mutha lias Ikumbini has continued to distribute more maize seeds to the farmers.
Speaking during the exercise, Muthoka said the move is to ensure food security in the county hence eradicate poverty.
He further called upon the farmers to embrace modern agricultural technology.
On Monday, in partnership with Machakos county government they shared maize and tomato seeds to farmers in Mitaboni ward, setting off with a significant number of farmers.
Muthoka said they also received further support of maize seeds from Haraka seed company to be distributed to 1000 farmers as a pilot sample and testing in Mitaboni environs.
“We are combining efforts with them to ensure that our people can access affordable seeds to increase crop production and consequently food production. Our activity took place at Mitaboni Chief’s office” he said
Muthoka also urged residents to plant trees during the short rains season in a bid to improve the Country’s forest cover.
The MCA reiterated that the 10 percent forest cover is achievable if all Kenyans take advantage during every rainy season to plant trees within homesteads, schools, forest zones, churches and along the rivers.
