Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok on Thursday commissioned modern theatre
and Japeth Ekidor Eye Clinic at the Lokitaung Sub-County Hospital.
The theatre is one of its kind in the region and will provide specialised optical services including trachoma treatments and cataract surgery and general surgeries.
The theatre is a partnership project with the Spanish Eye Doctors through the Mission Community of Saint Paul the Apostle.
It has two operating rooms, a minor theatre, 12-bed pre and post-operation rooms.
The Eye Unit is a County Government project and is named in tribute to former Turkana North MP Japeth Ekidor Lotukoi.
The facilities will end referrals outside the county, serving patients with eye conditions from Turkana and cross-border regions with Ethiopia,South Sudan and Uganda.
